3 out of 5 stars Bike bag   August 9, 2010

I bought this one to replace one i had for 12 years. I thought it would be a little roomier. Also I don't care for the zipper that opens all the way around. Well made though.

4 out of 5 stars convenient for what it is   June 16, 2010

I use this thing to keep a cable and a plastic bag in (to cover my saddle when it rains). I like picking my bike up by the strap. It's much easier to carry on my shoulder now. Some people complained it doesn't have much space inside but if that's what you want get a pannier or something. This thing is more a carry strap with a little compartment inside. I think it's cool.

I originally bought my Avenir Shoulder bag in 1986 with the purchase of
my Raleigh MTB. This bag is such a convenience when out on the trails or on the road. so here it is 22+ years later and I'm looking for another one. the sad story is this, I'd put some food in it on one of my rides
and the next morning evidently a squirrel or raccoon had smelled it because it had chewed up the bag to get to the food (trail bar if I remember )
Moral of the story is do not leave food on your bike!
aprt from that, it really is a great bag, and if you need to shoulder
the bike, good padding as well.

This is a sweet little bag. I keep my my Alien toolkit, tire levers, wallet and garage door opener inside. The portion of the bag that comes in contact with my shoulder during portage has a hard plastic insert that keeps the stuff in the bag from digging my shoulder and helps maintain the shape of the bag nicely.

I do wish there was another topside strap at the corner of the bag. Before I ride, if I come in contact with the bag at all, I have to put it straight again. While riding, the bag has never wandered out of position, but I would forsee it doing so for rough trail riders.

Nonetheless, I have ordered a second one for my wife. Highly recommended.
